Land, eat, drift east
Land at 09:15, rental car pickup
TW166 boards at Changi around 01:15 and departs 02:15, so you will land already jet-lagged from a red-eye. CJU arrival is smooth, though: exit Gate 5, shuttle to the rental office. Have the physical IDP, passport and licence ready, budget a full hour for paperwork. Keep the rest of today deliberately light, you earned it.
Lunch in Jeju City, then coastal Route 1132 east
Ease in along the northeast coast toward Hamdeok Beach, white sand, turquoise water, Seoubong oreum at the far end.
Woljeong-ri cafe strip
The decompression leg, no agenda beyond coffee and sand. Pink muhly at Cafe Glencoe near Hamdeok if you pass it.
Woljeong-ri rooftop cafes Cafe Glencoe (pink muhly garden)Check in east, black pork dinner
Heuk-dwaeji BBQ near Seongsan or Gimnyeong. Sleep early-ish, tomorrow has options.
Black pork BBQ (book ahead if a famous spot)East coast, the quiet way
Gotjawal forest walk or Bijarim Forest
Dense volcanic forest most tour buses skip. Flat, shaded, quiet. This replaces the recently reopened Manjanggul Cave, which will be crowded for months; swap back in if you love lava tubes.
Hannam / Cheongsu Gotjawal trailsCoffee with a view of the crater
Lunch near Seongsan village, then a slow coffee facing Ilchulbong before or after the climb.
Cafe Warang Warang Glasshouse cafes near SeongsanSeongsan Ilchulbong, then Seopjikoji
Yes it is touristy, but it earns it. Twenty to thirty minutes of stairs to the crater rim. Go after 3pm when tour groups thin out, or at sunrise if the mood strikes. Then the windswept Seopjikoji clifftop walk to the lighthouse, genuinely romantic in October wind.
If crowds kill it: skip the climb, view the cone from Gwangchigi Beach insteadSeafood dinner in Seongsan
Galchi-jorim or fresh hoe near the harbour. If a haenyeo diver demonstration is running near Ilchulbong, catch it.
Udo island crawl, then move south
Ferry to Udo, loop the island
White-sand Seobin Baeksa, black-sand beaches, two lighthouses, peanut everything. The full loop is unhurried in half a day.
Udo peanut ice cream (mandatory) Beachfront cafes at Seobin BaeksaPink muhly at Udo Garden, ferry back
Late October is the tail of pink muhly season, still photogenic. Last ferries leave earlier than you expect, check the board when you arrive.
Drive south, check into Seogwipo base
About an hour along the southeast coast. Dinner: tong-galchi-jorim, whole braised hairtail, the Seogwipo signature.
Tong-galchi-jorim in SeogwipoTea farm + the south coast nobody queues for
Seogwi Dawon tea farm (the quiet Osulloc)
A small family-run organic tea field. ₩5,000 gets you a two-tea tasting with the owners, no museum, no crowds. Then loop back down for Eongtto Waterfall, but only if it rained recently, it runs dry otherwise, and Soesokkak Estuary's jade water and wooden rafts.
Seogwi Dawon instead of Osulloc · 717 516-ro Eongtto + Soesokkak instead of Cheonjiyeon + JeongbangOedolgae Rock coastal path + market graze
Short boardwalk to the lone sea stack. Then a casual food stop at Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market, treat it as street food, the proper traditional market comes Tuesday.
Omegi rice cakes · hallabong juiceSagye-ri coast under Sanbangsan
Layered volcanic cliffs and wide sea views without the roped-off, paid, tour-group version at Jusangjeolli. Park anywhere along the coastal road and wander.
Warm Grey / sea-view cafes on the Seogwipo cliffs Manor Blanc (pink muhly garden cafe)Saeyeongyo Bridge night show
It is a Saturday, so the weekend performance and fireworks at Saeyeongyo Bridge should be on (runs weekends through Oct 31). Harbour dinner after.
Wild west + Aewol sunset
Chagwido island from Jagunae Port
10 to 15 minute crossing to the uninhabited crater island, small rim walk on Dangsanbong, your quiet answer to Sunrise Peak. Semi-dried squid at the port is the local snack. If the ferry timing is off, the Suwolbong geo-trail cliffs below the peak fill the morning just as well.
Jagunae Port semi-dried squid + boat noodlesSuwolbong Peak, then Hyeopjae Beach
Drive up Suwolbong for the coastal panorama, then north to Hyeopjae's white sand and Biyangdo views. Sunday beach crowds are fine in late October.
Handam coastal walk + Aewol golden hour
The glass-walled cafe strip above the water. Watch the sun drop, dinner by the sea, then the ~50 minute drive back to Seogwipo.

Seongpanak trail up
9.6 km one way, about 4.5 hours, the gentler of the two summit routes. October rules: gates open ~05:00–05:30, pass the Jindallaebat checkpoint by ~11:30, off the summit by ~13:30. Steady volcanic-rock climbing, thick-soled shoes essential. Pack layers, the crater rim is cold and very windy.
Baengnokdam crater, then descend
Down the same way, or via Gwaneumsa if your knees agree (steeper, more dramatic).
Nothing. That is the plan.
Easy dinner near the hotel, feet up. Tomorrow is just the market and the flight.
1100 Altitude Wetland boardwalk
Drive up the 1100 Road to the high wetland. A flat 15–40 minute boardwalk loop with close-up mountain views and peak October colour, no climbing. Rest stop open 6am–4:30pm. The Yeongsil trailhead area is the foliage hotspot if you want one more viewpoint.
Yeongsil trailhead viewpoint (foliage at its best now)Saryeoni Forest stroll
Wide, flat, cathedral-quiet cedar path, and this week is its peak autumn canopy.
Slow cafe afternoon + pack
Camellia Hill gardens or one last Seogwipo cliff cafe. Pack tonight so tomorrow's market morning is unhurried.
Camellia Hill tea housesMarket morning, one more stop, night flight home
Check out, drive north, market brunch
Take the 516 road over the shoulder of Hallasan for one last foliage drive, or the west coast for a final sea view. Graze breakfast from the market stalls, hotteok, sundae, mandarins and hallabong for the flight.
Market hotteok + a box of hallabong to carry homeOne unhurried last stop
Since the flight is not until evening, use the free hours well: a slow lunch in Jeju City, a last cafe, or a short walk at Yongduam (Dragon Head Rock) and the nearby coastal path, close to both the city and the airport. Keep it light, not another driving day.
Jeju City cafe for a final coffeeRefuel, return the car, fly
Refuel before returning; the return inspection, shuttle and check-in eat more time than you think. Aim to be at the rental office by around 17:15–17:30 for the 19:45 departure. Land Singapore 01:15 the next morning.
